How I manage my "9-5" with my part time Business.

I know, I know I've been gone for a bit but I'll save that for another post. So technically I work 11pm-7am and yes I work overnight. This schedule isn't for everybody and sometimes I feel the need to change up because I rather be at home working on my other ventures than to be at work but having to remind myself the reason why I choose this schedule is a self-reminder and my shift of focus of why I'm working the graveyard shift in the first place.

ONE. I’m a student. I decided to go back to school around 2015 after I was recently fired from my job of 4 years. I have been shooting for 8 going on 9 years now and I didn’t start to take it seriously from the business aspect until after I got fired. While tried to figure out school and photography and taking my first leap into entrepreneurship like out first try it was a trial and error and failed miserably. Bills started to pile up and I knew I had to resort in getting a job. With school, I knew working days would be too much and I didn’t want to take that risk of fighting to change my schedule every semester so I lucked up on an overnight job that allowed me to have my days to do school and other things that I would probably have to use up all my vacation days for just to take care of errands.

TWO. Blogging and photography are one of my favorite creative past times and I would love to do more of it if I can but I also don’t want to stress myself out with juggling too much. I believe in still getting the job done and not stressing yourself out over it too due to you having a 9-5 too. With having a job and wanting to your own thing on the side PLANNING will become your best friend. In whatever form that you plan your life away and it actually works for you I say stick to it. This has been saving me a lot of time when it comes to planning and how I go about getting my stuff done for the day or week. I use all sorts of tools like my planner, apps called UNUM and trello, and my adobe suite to help create tools that will prepare me for the week. I can get into detail about that in a later of you guys would like just let me know.

THREE. Self-care is so important and it can mean many different things to people. For me, it’s taking care of my mental space. A lot of people spend a lot of time thinking about what’s next to do on their list, life, or just simply in deep thought constantly. I take this time out to “mind dump” everything into a journal and get everything out that has bothered me, made me mad, or even sad points i experienced during the week it all goes into this little journal of mine. Besides the journaling, I also enjoy a day of pampering as well. I mean what girl doesn’t?

Working overnight is a struggle but the benefits and trade-off I get from it will actually pay off in the long run. Would I suggest working overnight? No lol and that’s only and I mean only if you need to under certain circumstances. But I’m definitely interested in knowing what you guys in your everyday 9-5 schedule either for the working girl or the full-time entrepreneur all routines aren’t bad it’s whatever works for you.
